We were in a bind and they knew it. Our car broke down coming down the pass on a Sunday in a snowstorm, so we had to spend the night in Salida. We decided to replace rather than repair it as it had nearly 230k miles. We needed to get back to Loveland and were already on day one of missed work, so we showed up at the dealership first thing Monday morning, frantic to find and purchase a vehicle and get back on the road.
When the paperwork was all signed we moved our belongings from the old car to the new - outside in the snow - even though there was an empty delivery bay right there. Apparently you have to buy a brand-new car to be shown the courtesy of getting out of the weather to switch out your things.
The check engine light came after just a couple weeks. Took it to local dealership. No coverage - service contract hasn't been submitted yet. Emissions testing is required in our area (no we didn't receive an emissions voucher) so we had to get the car fixed to the tune of $342.00. Sent copies of repair and receipt to Salida dealership - have yet to hear a word from them. That was February - now it's October.
Worst experience with a vehicle ever!
Called Salida dealership to speak with finance person, and was sent to voicemail, so left a message. Sent email to salespeople whose cards we were given. Have yet to receive a response from anyone at this dealership.
Now, we need to have repairs to climate control so that the defroster will work and we can see to drive and so the ticking in the dash will stop. Back to local dealer. Called service contract company to verify repairs would be covered. The "high tech" coverage we thought we purchased is actually only powertrain coverage! The finance person at the dealership apparently didn't check a box on the service contract and now we don't have the coverage we were lead to believe we were paying for! What should cost us a $50.00 deductible is now going to cost us the full amount of the repair to get the car safe to drive.
Town & Country has extremely poor customer service. The salesman I worked with did not know the specifications of the vehicle he was selling. The vehicle tow rating was important to me and when I asked, he informed me of a rating that I questioned. He went into the dealership and confirmed it had an approx. 16.3k pounds tow rating. When I researched, I found the rating to be approx. 9.8k pounds. I have had numerous conversations and emails with the salesman over this issue getting nowhere. I have tried to contact the sales manager of Town & Country but he has never responded. I have been treated as if they are giving me the middle finger. I would never recommend Town and Country to anyone.
I should preface with; I did not purchase a vehicle but visited as a potential buyer. We stopped in during a visit to Salida (used to live in the area) after something on the lot caught our eye. Derek (Internet Sales Manager?) was amazingly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Most importantly to me, he was not pushy (which makes me usually leave dealers immediately). He spend lots of time with us and was very friendly. For this experience, I will be back!
They refused to replace the cracked windshield when they sold us the replacement car (unsafe). They tried to over-charge us for gap insurance. We told them we didn't want a service contract, which they had already built into our financing, but after their finance person went over the brochure explaining everything it would cover, we relented and were charged $2495.00 for what we were told was "high tech" coverage, the best they had for a 2012 vehicle with 62k miles.
I bought my truck here. The sales staff is great. They found me exactly what I was looking for at a price I could afford. The service department always does a great job. I gave them 4 stars because the service department never returns my calls, if they would fix that, they would get 5 stars.
Predatory sales tactics. They will take advantage of your ignorance in the industry, with a sly smile on their face. Pretend to be the "hometown" friendly type of place but in reality, they're willing to screw you at any opportunity.
