So, let me start by saying that I hardly ever leave reviews for places. I intend on it, but I rarely end up remembering. I know, I'm awful.
I only stayed for one night as I was just visiting a friend. I am from Denver. I loved my experience here and highly recommend it.
I would hate for anyone else to drive 12+ hrs and arrive to find they did not have a spot.
Had reservations for 4 months, called to confirm 2 weeks out, was told we were all set. Also had an email confirmation. . Arrived and was told they were full. The owner was very indignant, asked "what do you want me to do about it, there's nothing I can do." Don't waste your time, there are many other more accommodating place's with much better customer service.
Finally got sewer line at 10:00 P.M. thanks to an employee who works there.
They even have a playground for kids! I even saw community picnic tables under a gazebo and one of the papers I signed said that campground potlucks are optional. It seemed like such a nice little community. They are pet friendly - I thought it was cute to see a hand-written sign posted on the bathroom door that said "On-Site Dog Watching at Site #27" or something along those lines. I think it was a couple of young girls that stay there or were staying there.
We stayed at the tent site 6. Our site was nice and away from people and right next to the river. Showers are decent, same with bathroom. Workers are friendly. I would stay again in site 6 but for me the RV sites are close like most campgrounds and I would probably not stay in one of them.
Made our reservation to stay back in March. We called 2 weeks before our trip to make sure everything was good. It was and they sent us our confirmation for the stay. We arrived on Saturday, June 24 our reserved time and Elsie (the owner) ,who is an unpleasant woman to deal with, informs us that they are booked full. So much for making a reservation with them!
The bathrooms were the cleanest and definitely most comfortable campground bathrooms I have ever seen and it looked like they had actual showers! Like ones where you actually get to choose how hot or cold your water is that isn't on a timer.
Once into the site, noticed that our sewer connection was being used by a motorhome that was not even in a site, but was parked on the end of a row. It was actually on blocks, so obviously had been there for awhile. Looking around, it is clear that over 50% of the sites were being used as residences. When I entered the office to advise of the lack of sewer hookup, the owner was on the phone, obviously with a debt collector, advising that she didn't have $1000 dollars, and wouldn't until after the summer season. When I told the owner of the sewer problem she said, "Yeah, I know, we've been dealing with it all summer." Why wouldn't you take care of the problem then is what I thought.
They have pretty much everything you may have forgotten in the little shop in their office. I saw a lantern for $5 and a set of ceramic camping dishes for like $16! Everything was very cheap. I am sure they were not profiting from it! How nice for us unprepared campers.
Don't. Do. It.
Do yourself a favor and keep driving, or find another place to reserve.
So even if you have a reservation with a confirmation, don't count on actually having a place to stay with them when you arrive after driving for days!
Do yourself a favor and FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY!!! It will be better and less stress in the long run!
Disclaimer: You will have to drive a couple of miles toward town to get cellphone service and I hear their wifi isn't the greatest but if you are going camping and expecting to be able to steam Netflix movies or something, just stay home? Get out and enjoy nature. It is absolutely beautiful out there. Don't be THAT person. Leave work at work and just sign off social media for a few days.
Now for the camp site. If you are camping in a tent, you must must MUST reserve site six. I did because a previous Google reviewer suggested it and I was very impressed. It is right on the river. It was secluded and beautiful. You can light a fire in the designated area and the sites are all equipped with picnic tables. I was surprised to even see tablecloths on them.
We pulled in and were told we were in site #10. We made our reservation specifically for our 42' 5th wheel trailer. Couldn't make the turn.
Anyway, I got to my campsite at about 5:30 PM and the nicest two gentleman in the office helped me. Going camping by myself was a very impulsive decision and I forgot a lot of the things I really shouldn't have forgotten. They have a communal grocery area where you can just take what you need, free of charge. Things like aluminum foil, paper towels and such. One of the men also gave me a wire clothes hanger and some matches for free. Because I'm the worst camper ever apparently. So the customer service was A+. I will admit that the lady that I spoke on the phone with initially to reserve my campsite didn't sound the friendliest. She wasn't rude by any means, just not overly friendly. But when checking out, I met her and she seemed much nicer in person.
There is absolutely no wifi at this park. Not even sitting in the office! No Cell service either.
